Whew! After a few weeks of reviewing really serious books, it's kinda nice to have one with a bit of humor and romance and only a bit of nail-biting tension. Just enough, you understand.I hope you read Linda Yezak's first book in this series, Give the Lady a Ride, because it beautifully sets the stage for this book. Patricia Talbert is a city girl, a politician's daughter, and totally unaccustomed to getting her nails broken and dirty, but when you inherit a ranch in Texas, what are you gonna do?
Well, fall in love, of course. With Texas, but also with the muscular and handsome foreman of her ranch, Talon Carlson. In this book, we find both of them back again. They're engaged, but she's really so not ready for marriage. Her first one really soured her, and if the cheater hadn't died she would have divorced him.
Patricia also has terrifying memories of Talon being badly hurt the last time he road a bull. He's promised he won't ride again, but that promise rankles. Guys are accusing him of being too cowardly to mount another bull. All his friends (except his beloved) are urging him to give it a go. He also doesn't want to buy an engagement ring for her from the paycheck he gets from her. A big purse from winning would cure that--but he'd have to break his promise.
Which she doesn't want to do. Despite her best friend, her favorite aunt (who arrived on the scene to chaperon her), and lots of other friends who advise her to change her stance or risk hurting him more than last year's bull did.

The Final Ride by Linda Yezak is a good continuation of the series. I really enjoyed the relationship between Talon and Pat and how it developed in this book. I know I'll like the next one as well. Linda's a great writer...
How great is it to be back in the saddle with everyone's favorite bull rider and ranch owner? Try Texas-sized great! Yezak delivers again in this sequel, with warmth, humor, and wonderful Texan charm. She approaches realistic developments in her characters' existing romantic relationships, while delivering big, as always, with Texas-drawled dialogue and gritty rodeo and ranch details.
Things are riding along really well for Talon and Pat, until Pat's aunt Adele shows up at the ranch for a visit. Then things begin going all sorts of cattywampus. There are enough twists and turns in this story to make you feel like you are riding a bull yourself. You won't be able to resist turning those pages to see what happens next. So pull up your boots and hang on tight for this Final Ride.
Loved "Give the Lady a Ride", but I loved "The Final Ride" even more! Love Texas based novels and these two books by Linda W. Yezak kept me turning the pages, figuratively that is, since I read them on my . Lovers of Texas based romances will not be disappointed with these two books. The only down side is I must wait until 2017 for book #3 "Ride to the Altar" and it promises to be a nailbiter. If you're looking for a good summer read, check out "The Final Ride" available at and other booksellers.
I read Linda's first book this past week and finished the second in the series last night. Both books are well written and hold one's interest throughout. The plot line moves well and the characters are highly defined and consistent. The flow of the story holds interest from the first line to the last. It is definitely a page turner and is hard to put down. Anyone who enjoys good western stories with a lot of action, solid Christian values, and a bit of romance will love this book and the series.
The Final Ride book two in the Circle Bar Ranch Series continues the fun and frustration for Talon and Patricia. They discovered their love in Give the Lady a Ride. Now Patricia has to decide if she’s ready to get married. Aunt Adele, control-freak extraordinaire comes for an extended visit. This only complicates things. Love the extra tension. Loved learning about bull riding, modern ranching. Linda Yezak effortlessly tucked all that information around her characters creating a believable setting without boring me to tears with the details. Another fun read and excellent ending. Can’t wait to read book three. Linda’s way with words is stellar.
Patricia and Talon find there's no smooth ride through life. Something as innocuous as a favorite aunt arriving unexpectedly sends their relationship spinning in the wrong direction. When Aunt Adele's meddling causes problems for the two, they must decide if they should cling to what they believe to be true about one another or let the interference send them in opposite directions. Riding an angry bull is easier than what they face!
Things I like about the story
*Linda Yezak does an excellent job writing from a man's perspective—regardless of which male character it is.
*The characters' fears are presented in a natural way, not forced or artificial, and the author doesn't exhaust the reader with reminders of those fears
every page.
*The scene about the final ride is the best. I was there every minute—both on the bull and in the stands. That alone is worth the read.
