With todays constant changes going on in most people's lifes this read provides you with insight and a road map to making the necessary changes need to get you there. The book is well written for those who are experiencing such things as a job lose / finding, starting a business, major life change.
When I purchased this book I wasn't looking for my "next big thing" - but I have been absolutely inspired by Dr. Michaelis' brilliant insight! I find his writing style to be very accessible and engaging. Your Next Big Thing is a powerful tool towards motivating positive and proactive moves in your life. This book makes the task of self/life evaluation feel less daunting. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is even remotely considering a change - and if you aren't looking for a life change, it is still inspiring and affirming.
There are times when a person is out on the cutting edge that we feel a little lost. I enjoyed reading this book since it was able to review some of the things that I had been discovering on my own as I have been working to discover my next big thing. So if you are lost or stuck I recommend this book as a source to help get you moving again. Plus it helped me see about where I currently am.
This is an excellent book. I love the way Dr. Ben Michaelis has you take a close look at your life and suggests ways to improve it. I especially like his focus on play, purpose and work. Too often we forget as adults that play is as important as work. Very well done, definitely a worthwhile purchase & one you will use and refer back to so you can re-evaluate your progress.
A good collection of concepts and ideas. There are lots of useful strategies, but I find all the references to other sections of the book a little bit frustrating. It's a good format, so since the order in which the strategies is presented is good, I wish the author would just have stuck with it. Instead, I would get into a passage and discover a link to something somewhere else in the book. It's nice that there are links in the eBook version, but if I was holding a hard copy in my hands, I wouldn't want to stop my train of thought, thumb through several chapters just to get the rest of the idea being discussed.
Be aware. I purchased the hardback version of this book and the print is ORANGE. The entire book is printed in orange. My eyes cannot tolerate it so I cannot read it. I will try to find a version that is printed in the normal black print. I am sure the idea was to make this a bright book with great ideas, but orange is not an easy color to read and my middle age eyes do not like it at all.
I have to admit I was skeptical about reading a book about motivation. But the thing is, this book is magic. It is full of ACTION POINTS, and not just "Go write something down," but thoughtful and meaningful questions that make you get to the bottom of what you want and how you can get it. Oh - and the best part is, it reminds you and shows you that it isn't about getting it either, it's about the getting to it - the momentum, the motivation. It's amazing how much is accomplished when you are moving toward something else - something bigger. And this book really gets that and then delivers it!! I am actually working on two new projects right now that are directly related to my having read this book. Two new projects. Before I had like negative 6 projects because there were so many ideas that I had that I was never going to do and ideas that I just wanted to do but didn't know how to start. So the fact that I am now working constantly, consistently and with CLARITY, is kind of miraculous. This is sort of a thank you note to the author. And a huge BUY THIS BOOK to anyone reading this review.
